Budget hotel chain Travelodge quizzed 3,000 respondents on waking-up habits and 71 per cent of UK adults claimed that alarm clocks are now obsolete. The faithful bedside companion has been cast off in favour of the mobile phone. 14 May 2008 | Synopsys hands VMM material to Accellera Synopsys has decided to donate to standards group Accellera the library and the software that the company uses to back up its VMM verification methodology, which is used to check chip designs using the SystemVerilog language. 13 May 2008 Flomerics rejects Mentor advance Flomerics Group, the maker of cooling and flow-simulation software for electronics systems, has rejected a £25.5m offer to buy the company from Mentor Graphics and will seek bids from other potential acquirers. 9 May 2008 Accellera sets up verification IP group Accellera, the group that puts together a number of the standards used in electronic design automation (EDA), has formed a committee to look at standards for verification intellectual property (IP). The committee aims to define technologies and methods to build a modular and reusable verification environment. 7 May 2008
