Satellite Systems and Applications

A community for the growth and exchange of knowledge in engineering and technology


The Satellite Systems & Applications Technical & Professional Network provides a focus for the design and application of earth stations and related equipment, satellites and space vehicles for communications, broadcasting, navigation, remote sensing, space exploration and radio astronomy.  It is a community run by, and on behalf of, professionals in the Satellite industry, with all the specialist and technical back up of the IET.

The Technical Advisory Panel will assist the TPN Executive Team in providing the steering to drive the TPN forward.  We would like people to get involved and join our Technical Advisory Panel for the development of this network as an important tool for the community. 

WHAT WOULD I HAVE TO DO?

If you would like to become a member of the TAP team you could be involved in:

  • Providing input regarding the needs of the community and suggest specific events, activities or products that should be developed.
  • Providing feedback on activities held and proposed by the TPN.
  • Suggesting material for inclusion on the web site, e.g. papers from events or publications, book reviews, key players for interview or Q & A sessions etc.
  • Generating and contribute to the virtual discussion groups, drawing conclusions from discussion threads as necessary.
  • Serving on project teams.
  • Providing comments on public affairs consultations of relevance.
  • Suggesting new members for the Executive Team and suggest possible speakers for events.
  • Promoting the TPN to colleagues and actively recruit new registrants.
  • Making nominations for any awards and prizes.
  • Preparing Editorials / papers for use in the Engineering Journals and the on-line Library.

If you are interested in joining then please send your CV to   Paul Head. Your application will then be considered by the Satellite Executive Team and you will be contacted with a final decision.
