"Drivers for change for future developments of Railway Electrification"

Held on 14-18 May 2007, The IET, Austin Court, Birmingham

Organised by The IET Railway Network, this five day course took place in May 2007 in Birmingham. The course was presented by expert lecturers who have worked on railway systems around the world.

Key discussion topics included:

• The requirements and constraints of the railway infrastructure; the different issues associated with signals, communications, plant and traction; achieving integration and ensuring project delivery.
• Understanding the significant developments in railway electrification, including controls systems, state of the art traction drives, metros and light rail systems.
• Understanding the need for maintenance of the infrastructure and the life cycle of the electrification systems used on the railway.
